Where Have You Been
05:15
|
|
||
The flood waters don't need your help, but then again where have you been.
We're giving up on the docks, and the station's gone since the water's pouring in
It was written on the wall, if not us then who, It's the same as the nights before
In the coming few weeks we expect a few more to show, they won't need us anymore
The floodlights and the freezing nights
We came back a second time to say it's the last time you get to try
To really know if we can or not
They know a lot more than you
About the places we're going to
But if you wake up any one of them
They don't help you out
Just talk about how fun it was
This autumn rain don't need us all
To stick around and let it fall
The flood waters don't need your help, it's empty now but we still pretend
They left the trucks and the gasoline, we don't need them now. We don't need to leave

The Old Ways
03:44
|
|
||
The old ways live on with you and your friends
As long as they're alive they will still
Wonder where could you go when the
Runner stands tall
And leaves out the ones who called them
They navigate the pass every night
The dig takes longer than roads outright
Still nobody goes through the tunnel alone
And they'll never tell how far it goes
Chorus:
The phone call says its time to go home
He sings about the old time religion and the place he was born
He wants to see the Northern Camp - It burned down so long ago
If you never make it out the long bottom is where your gonna go
Where did you leave yourself last night
From the sound of glass bottles kept out of sight
From the way that they walked in the clear daylight
From the roads that they made that doubled the time
Lead me to believe we're never gonna be
quiet as good as the one's who came before

Find Your Way Out
01:39
|
|
||
You would think after all of these years
You'd know spending your day in here doesn't solve anything
You have to learn how to find your way out

Sleep in the Garage
04:27
|
|
||
Our day is tied out to to line that grown into the trees
The weather radio, the background noise
In the kitchen window
It's always been our last day out
At least the ones people know about
To the stairs made out of roots and rocks
It's pretty great if you can wake up soon enough
But when I get home
I don't mind to sleep in the garage
It's easier sneaking out
to go walking in the dark till we're not afraid of anything
anymore
Branches scrape against the house
The windows on the second floor
I still hear the sound muffled now
of voices just outside the door
The friends that I now hardly see
All end up here eventually
But you never seem to find them
At the same place at the same time anymore

Most Afternoons
03:51
|
|
||
What are they calling it now
Since we've been gone away
The names always change
But it looks the same to me
And it's a shame
We can't just sit
Mind our own
I'm walking back
To the yellow house
To be alone
Where I do my best
before morning comes
Try your luck
Outside. grey noon sky
Because this room
gets smaller every time
I walk inside
The afternoons
Are for meeting out on the line
To keep that fire
Alive
What are they calling it now
The world's been keeping quiet
They're always watching us though
I'm only passing by
But it's just as fun
to let them talk
Instead of hiding out
Let's take a drink
and run as fast
as we can back

Keeping Up
03:40
|
|
||
Try keeping up
Try keeping time
It's keeping up with you
But I'm dropping out
For my autumn days
When they come around
Until then I could just be
like the fog
just roll away
with the day

Neighborhood
03:24
|
|
||
It's not so far out to
Some quiet cold place
And I constantly recall
The view from the fire escape
It's an endless loop that leads up to
the calm white noise before the neighborhood wakes up
The wind has blown parts of the roof
The wild dogs all scare and run back to
The treeline back behind our homes
We only do what we know to do
You don't own this place like you think you do
Nobody gets to stay when the riders on their horses
Making plans by campfire light
But you can see them from the houses
They drive back to town
and say it's nice to be walking distance from the world sometimes
All we have back home is some truck stop restaurant
but they don't let us sit outside there anymore

Maybe Next Year
03:59
|
|
||
I know it's hot
But we'll remember this fondly years from now
Go cross the creek
Found the spot where we pushed the dead tree down
To cross years ago
No matter how much sleep you get in this heat
You're always gonna feel the same
So I'll wait for the daylight
For my friends to wake up
And stick to the plan
Maybe next year
Could we just get one Halloween
That doesn't feel like the middle of June
