It's not so far out to
Some quiet cold place
And I constantly recall
The view from the fire escape
It's an endless loop that leads up to
the calm white noise before the neighborhood wakes up
The wind has blown parts of the roof
The wild dogs all scare and run back to
The treeline back behind our homes
We only do what we know to do
You don't own this place like you think you do
Nobody gets to stay when the riders on their horses
Making plans by campfire light
But you can see them from the houses
They drive back to town
and say it's nice to be walking distance from the world sometimes
All we have back home is some truck stop restaurant
but they don't let us sit outside there anymore
